Project 365 (#321 - #327)

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

Sunday ~ #321/365

We visited the park and climbed trees. Elisha and Bethany also got in a little batting and throwing practice for the upcoming baseball/softball seasons.

Monday ~ #322/365

I started a life group at my house with two ladies. For the first night we talked about our goals for 2011 and how we can keep each other accountable.

Tuesday ~ #323/365

The fog rolled in this week and the temperatures dropped again. All of our mornings looked like this.

Wednesday ~ #324/365

I asked her if I could take a picture of her outfit and this is how she posed. See the boots, hat and handkerchief? That's how she dressed for school every day this week. It was a cowgirl kinda week she said. I wonder what next week will bring?

Thursday #325/365

Bethany and I did an art project at home with crayons and poster paint. It didn't turn out like I remember it when I was a kid, but we had fun anyways. She took her picture to her teacher and since I had to "re-create" the moment, I only had my picture around to photograph.

Friday ~ #326/365

Elisha requested this picture be taken. What's with the funny look? Who knows he's just having fun. He requested that it have a place on my blog and since it is the one and only picture I took on Friday, his wish came true.

Saturday ~ #327/365

Daddy was gone last night and all day today because he was invited to speak at Encounter at another church. Because of how late the services ran the kids were unable to call and wish him good night on Friday night, but were thrilled to hear from him on Saturday morning. This is how I found them when I got up, by the way, all snuggled together watching a movie. I love moments like this!
That's it for this week that flew by like a whirlwind. How was your week? Link it up on Sara's blog!

Project 365 (#314 - #320)

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

Sunday ~ #314/365

Bethany is very proud that she can wrap her hair in a towel all by herself :)

Monday ~ #315/365

I re-claimed my table from the horrible clutter monster that threatens to constantly overtake it. This time he almost succeeded!

Tuesday ~ #316/365

Bethany's teacher bought her pretty flower clippies to go in her hair.

And in other news, Elisha jammed his pinkie while playing basketball at school. He claims it went all the way back until it touched the back of his hand. Not sure how much of it you'll be able to see but it got darker than that before it started feeling better on Thursday.

Wednesday ~ #317/365

Here comes the sun! And with it we've had some nice temps in the 60's. It makes me wonder, though, if the colder weather is gonna attack again and send my sinuses into crazy mode.

Thursday ~ #318/365

Bethany got a new 300 piece horse puzzle at Christmas and we took the time to put it together tonight, or should I say, I finished putting it together after she went to bed because she kept getting distracted and found other things to do.

Friday ~ #319/365

Bethany insists on sharing her pretty flower clippies with the rest of us so we can look as beautiful as she does.

Saturday ~ #320/365

Elisha making a lay-up during warm up time. His team is really good and I feel bad that he hasn't been around enough to really learn from them during the games. Still, I stand on the fact that at least he has improved.
Okay so what about you? Are you linkin' up with Sara this week?

Friday Funnies ~ Housekeeping Philosophies

I don't do windows because...I love birds and don't want one to run into a clean window and get hurt.

I don't wax floors because...I am terrified a guest will slip and get hurt then I'll feel terrible ( plus they may sue me.)

I don't mind the dust bunnies because...They are very good company, I have named most of them, and they agree with everything I say.

I don't disturb cobwebs because...I want every creature to have a home of their own.

I don't Spring Clean because...I love all the seasons and don't want the others to get jealous.

I don't put things away because...My husband will never be able to find them again.

I don't do gourmet meals when I entertain because...I don't want my guests to stress out over what to make when they invite me over for dinner.

I don't iron because...I choose to believe them when they say "Permanent Press."

I don't stress much on anything because..."A Type" personalities die young and I want to stick around and become a wrinkled up crusty ol' woman!!!

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

Sunday ~ #307/365

Elisha got to be a part of the skit for the Sunday morning message. He didn't want to do it at first because he was scared, but then he remembered the verse "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and said yes. It was not an easy decision for him, but he was very excited about it Sunday morning. You can read the rest of the story here.

Monday ~ #308/365

Pastor Willy (our church's recovery pastor) came and told the preschoolers a little about Puerto Rico, where his family is originally from.

Tuesday ~ #309/365

The kids and I made toilet paper roll penguins as models for the daycare craft project on Wednesday. Can you tell whose is who's?

Wednesday ~ #310/365

How come they fight all week at home and can play like best friends at school?

Thursday ~ #311/365

Microwave S'mores for dessert, courtesy of Nutella.

Friday ~ #312/365

Just playin' around with the camera. Nice mud splatters on the window huh?

Saturday ~ #313/365

Getting Elisha to his basketball games this season has been a challenge. Most of the games were scheduled for Sundays and that just doesn't work for us. Unfortunately there are only two more games left. Oh well, he has enjoyed what little season he has had and has made some improvements.

We registered for baseball/softball this morning too. Our lives are officially about to get really busy. I'm enjoying these slower weeks while I still can.

Wanna show us your week. Link up with Sara!

The Best of the Best

On Saturday morning Elisha was called by a friend who happened to be speaking in children's church on Sunday to see if he wanted to be a part of the skit she was doing. It was supposed to a game show called The Best of the Best

When we first received the message he didn't really respond he just said he'd think about it and walked off. She said she wasn't going to be home and asked for us to call her back later. Well, later came and he still hadn't made a decision. Then I found that she had e-mailed me a copy of the skit. Elisha had 5 lines in it, nothing to hard, I knew he could do it.

Problem was he wasn't so sure. He told me no, he couldn't he was scared. We wanted the decision to be up to him, but neither Yohn nor I wanted him saying no because of fear. I was always allowed to make those choices too as a kid, but I always let fear rule and I know what it has done to me as an adult, I don't want the same for our boy.

So we talked to him about the things he was capable of and that we knew he could do it. We also told him that we knew God was going to do mighty things through him in the future, but he couldn't let fear stand in his way. At the very least, he needed to pray before making his decision. Then when he called Kimberly back (yes, he had to call and tell her yes or no) that we would stand behind his decision. (and no she's not giving him bunny ears, she was asking the audience if they thought #3 was the best)

He went to his room and came back about 6 or 7 minutes later. He gave me a big hug and then said, "Mom, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I gonna call Ms. Kimberly and tell her yes." (the judges are making their decision in this pic)

We were both so proud of him and he was really excited about doing it once he got to this point. He memorized his lines, and even though he is holding the paper with his lines on it, he only took it with him because the older boys didn't have theirs memorized and conviced him he needed it. He told us on Sunday afternoon that he prayed again that morning and wasn't even really nervous and he was gonna let Ms. Kimberly know he would do another skit if she wanted him to.

And that's how my boy became the Best of the Best!

Crazy Hat Band

The other night Bethany invited her daddy to come and practice his guitar playing in her room with her.

About ten minutes later she insists that I come and join them to see what they are up to. As if I can't hear their "wonderful" music from my place in the living room.

As I arrive she brings in Daddy's hat and asks him to wear it while she puts on an old hat we have for playing with.

She names them The Crazy Hat Band.

Then she shows off her talent of playing her recorder and her keyboard at the exact same time.

I know, I know, you are so jealous of me and my talented family!

Friday ~ #305/365

Elisha was home from school on Thursday due to a high fever on Wednesday night (103.5). Most of Thursday he was at about 100 degrees and then in spiked Thursday night to 102.2 so we decided to keep him home on Friday too. But then Friday came and no fever, so he spent part of his day catching up on his school work.

Saturday ~ #306/365

I love seeing moments like this.

Ants

Because of the rain we currently have ants bombarding our house like crazy. I guess they like it to be dry where they pillage. Mostly they are just annoying, traveling in little lines across the stove and counter tops to who knows where.

Bethany commented this morning on all the ants. Yohn jokingly told her we should dip them in chocolate and eat them and maybe that would get rid of them. She told him we'd just throw them in the trash because that would be gross.

As she walked away she said, "Did you know that ant blood is sour?"

"Uh, how do you know that?"

"I tasted them before."

Alrighty then.

Lego Mania

Yes, Lego Mania hit our house last Friday, as we all spent a lot of time putting together some Lego sets. My daughter's is actually from a year ago when we visited Legoland. Thankfully, she loves her Mama is very forgiving :0)

Any guesses as to what this may be?

Elisha got Star Wars legos for Christmas, complete with Ewoks!
Sorry I forgot to take pictures as we put it together, so he made some scenes he wanted me to post on the blog for your viewing pleasure!

I couldn't begin to tell you what things we built were called, I only know there were Storm Troopers and Ewoks.

Battle scene, complete with dismantled bad guys.
Now, back to the progress Bethany was making...

This is about at the halfway point, or a little after. Figure it out yet?
And please, pay no attention to the clutter from Christmas still lingering in the background. Just focus on that cute face, okay?

All done! And let me tell you she really surprised me. She likes to play with her legos but this was a long project and my hyper child often gets easily distracted. But I am conviced that if it were not for the fact that in her excitement she sometimes gets the pieces slightly off, or the fact that she can't always snap them down tight, I believe she could have done this all by herself.

She amazes me!
