Kid Fest ~ Part 2

After visiting with the firemen, we headed over to the Monkey show where we saw these guys.

And their friends.

This one entertained us with how well she proved just who was "The Boss."

There was a baby monkey in a diaper too.

And a baboon who could smile, but I didn't get a good picture of his smile.

Mickey (from the first picture) is famous.

And so the kids had to take a picture with him!

After that we caught up with Dora for a quick photo...

... and then we headed to the car where we had a lunch all packed and waiting for us. The kids really liked to climb this sign for the high school where Kid Fest was being held.

Then we played in the funny mirrors...

... hula hooped...

...and checked out the petting zoo.

Although we didn't go inside because they wanted 4 tickets just to go in, almost the equivalent of $4.00 per person. No thanks, we'll pet them through the fence. Oh wait, the kids were asked not to do that either, but we didn't realize that was not okay until after I had taken the picture of their hands and the cute bunny.

More hula hooping...

...and then face painting...

She wanted a ghost. I'm guessing this is supposed to be Pinky from Pac Man.

Yep, just as I suspected, some kind of a ball. (I guessed it would be a baseball, basketball or football) He did say he was going to get a mustache, but was told the person doing the face painting didn't know how to do one. How hard could a mustache be?

Bethany's took forever. Any guesses as to what it is?

A giant heat that took up her whole face!

Kid Fest - Part 1

Every year on Memorial Day we attend Kid Fest. I know that one day soon, the kids will be too old for Kid Fest, but until then I look forward to our annual tradition, busy, tiring day and all. We took Jewell with us this year, so we had three kids to entertain, say no to, encourage to try new things and so on and so forth. At Kid Fest this year they had:

A blow up bouncy slam dunk basketball court...

... a BMX stunt team...

... a daddy that gave shoulder rides...

(oh wait, we brought him with us!)

...a blow up baseball throw game...

Elisha especially liked this one!
...firefighters who answered questions and dressed you up in all their gear...

Jewell didn't really want to and my kids almost followed her lead. But after a little scolding (because they were excited and I want them to make their own decisions and not base them on what others want or think, not because Yohn and I were being mean) and coaxing my two came around. I think Jewell only did it because they did.

I love these pictures. She truly enjoyed trying on all the gear.

Elisha had a blast too, but the firefighter helping him did not linger like the one helping Bethany did. He put the suit on Elisha and then took it off again quick. I barely had time to get the picture.

This was one of the kids favorite parts, climbing all over the truck. They could go almost anywhere they wanted.

And who wouldn't want to play with the hose, even if it wasn't shooting any water?

or climb all over the back of it?

One of the firemen told us to bring the kids by the station any time, because they liked guests and it broke up the monotony of the day (as long as they weren't out on a call that is). We may just take them up on that offer sometime.

Post 2 to come soon...

Baseball Playoffs ~ Game 3

Thursday, June 9th

The A's vs. The Cardinals

(Backing up third or maybe just watching his shadow as he runs :)

Because the team lost on Wednesday, they had to play Thursday to try to make it to the championships. Except this time we had to do it without our coach. Since his family was headed to Hawaii, I guess they had a valid excuse for leaving. :) Now they were down two players (the one from the day before and the coach's son, and our coach. His friend, Jeffrey, filled in and did a great job and we appreciated him very much (he had been assistant coaching on and off, so it's not like he didn't know the team.

(playing third)

This game was far more relaxed. No yelling, no crazy parents, just a nice warm evening and a ball game.

(there's that tongue again)

Unfortunately the Cardinals have had our number all. season. long. and so a win we could not pull off, but they did play hard and had a great game.

Bethany did what Bethany does well, entertaining herself with the various critters and bugs in the area.

And bringing her mommy some pretty treasures!

Final Score: A's 6, Cardinals 8

And the A's went home eliminated and taking third place in the playoffs. Great job boys! It was a great season to be a part of!
