We are a busy family who juggle work, ministry, and our family on a regular basis, but God gives us the strength. Our desire is to serve the Lord with all our hearts and see our children grow up with a close relationship with Him. Our two children Elisha (12) and Bethany (11) keep us on our toes, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
We started a little tradition a few years back to take fun family photos on New Year's Day. But this year due to "technical" difficulties we didn't get to take our pictures on the first day of the year. But at least that didn't stop us from having fun today!
I was setting up the camera and the kids were clowning around. When Bethany saw this later she said, "What am I doing?! I look like I'm singing some kind of song!"
Still doing camera set up and he thought I was photographing him. So I did!
1st attempt... I didn't realize the Kool Aid pitcher was in the picture because I couldn't see it on the screen. Don't know how I thought I wouldn't be. But it gives our pictures a bit of character I think.
Second attempt... a little better.
This picture looks like fun but Yohn misunderstood what I wanted him to do and starting pouring Kool Aid everywhere while trying to get it in the glasses. A second later and my face would have been much angrier. Actually I think I just started to ask him what he was doing when the picture snapped.
Love this candid of the three of them while I was setting the timer.
Silly toast, was supposed to all be facing in but the kids and Yohn looked at the camera. When I did Yohn looked down. So many laughs.
Had a pajama party with some of our favorite kids!
Not everyone would take a pajama picture though :(
Took them all too see the Christmas lights on Christmas Eve before taking them all home to enjoy it with their families. And made sure to give all three their special photo books from 2014. I started the tradition last year and plan to keep it up for as long as those kiddos are in our lives (or until they graduate, whichever comes first, LOL!)
Got their Christmas Eve pjs... This year I decided to match them. Ninja Turtles are a favorite of both so they became the obvious choice.
She has a giraffe collection and enjoyed this unique rope giraffe we picked up at the fair this year. It was supposed to be a birthday present, but we forgot all about it. Ah well! She still loved it!
An unflattering picture of me and my beautiful new necklace, LOL!
A beanie with his favorite basketball team!
Her favorite gift!
His favorite gift!
They decided to watch a movie on Christmas night and fell asleep in the same bed!
Got invited to Six Flags on New Year's Eve
The snow hill was not as fun as they remembered... but they still enjoyed it a little.
Took a picture in a snow globe.
Saw some dolphins perform
Only character we saw all night
Tried to eat a giant candy cane, :)
And waited around for fireworks that were less than mediocre. Ah well, it was still a blast. Happy 2015!
I know that Christmas has now passed us by but I thought I'd throw in the kids' class performance I mentioned in the last post. Don't be fooled by how it starts, it really is comical!
And if you have a few more minutes, this one is from the church performance and it's cute:
Miss Me? My internet was down all week due to technical difficulties. I had to wait almost a whole week for what I needed to come in. I was having withdrawals! That's actually a little bit scary when you think about it. Didn't realize I was so dependent on my internet!
I'm not going to post all of my dailies because that would be just a little crazy, so I'll pick a few of my faves from the week and that will be that. Then I'll start again (hopefully) tomorrow.
417. no work on Columbus day
418. walkie talkies
420. hiking and caves
426. that both kids have basketball practice on the same nights this week (at the same place and time too!)
430. that Bethany is actually learning to save money
437. a quiet evening alone with Yohn
439. measuring the neighborhood with Elisha for a school project (not the project itself, but just the time with him)
Whoops! Forgot to even write out yesterday's five! I got just a little caught up in the season finale of Elementary we were watching on DVD late last night.
However, I did still want to make note of the one blessing I remember from yesterday:
394. getting not one, but both kid's school pictures for free (Every year I coordinate the kids and get them from classrooms to the picture area, organize them and assist in getting them situated, it's my job. But hey, if they want to give me free pictures for that, I don't mind a bit!)
And now for today's:
395. having Yohn be gracious and forgiving when I embarrassed him in front of a friend today (let's just say it had something to do with hand slapping and scolding and leave it at that, K?)
396. having a hard laugh with Yohn when he mentioned said embarrassment later on
(for the record I did apologize, but that did not stop us from re-hashing it and laughing all the harder at my rather juvenile behavior)
397. sitting with Yohn watching both kids at basketball practice
398. that it has been confirmed that Bethany will definitely have a team
399. time at Panera bread with the school families
400. spending time sitting and talking with "my boys"
383. having Yohn be teased, not once, but twice about his "Baby Ruth" and that he is "Ruthless" without me... mostly this one is just about the smile on his face!
384. taking "all my kids" to basketball practice today
(all "four" of them)
385. getting to watch practice today
386. feed my unexpected guest
387. planning our fantasy basketball league
(and naming Harmony's team Homany's tuppie, LOL!)
388. having Elisha say that he loves having us for his mom and dad
