Sooo much fun!

Sadly this was Elisha's last year as a camper, as he will be thirteen before the next year. Thankfully God moved on camp this year and he (Bethany too) really stepped up and reached out to other kids in prayer. It was an awesome few days with some really great kids. I think this may have been the best one yet!

Kid's Camp

Here I go again, blogging about summer. I can't help it. I didn't post these great pics yet and I just have to get it outta my system. Okay, okay, that's probably gonna take quite a while...

My kiddos look forward to Kid's Camp with the church each year. And I mean, who could blame them!

There's lots of swimming...

...crazy games...
(that's panty hose on his head and he had to race to each the go-gurt out of the package the fastest)

...hanging out with friends...

...and Daddy too (literally!)...

...lesson time...
(look at that summer bleached hair!)

...worship...

...and the best part? No one is "too big" for kid's camp yet. *Sigh* That happens next year.

Bike/Walk A Thon

Me again! It's been a few weeks, I know, and I am still posting about summer. AND it's now October. *SIGH* At this rate, you'll come around in March and I'll just be getting to Christmas. Yeesh! Ah well, I still like to look at the pictures and remember these days. So I guess I'm gonna continue to share them.

Each year before Kid's Camp we hold a Bike/Walk a Thon as a fundraiser for the kiddos who are going. The turn out is usually low, but for the kids who need it, it helps. AND, they usually have fun doing it!

See the littler girl in the pics? She lost her momma the Saturday after we came back from camp. This was the last day I had a chance to visit with her mom. It's crazy how time just keeps marching forward like it does. She's only eight years old. Thankfully she has started to attend the Christian school I work at, so we have been able to love on her a lot, and show her daddy the support he needs as he raises her and her sister. Please keep them in your prayers if you think of them.

Bethany enjoyed riding her bike, but still convinced her daddy to walk a lap with her as well. I think she enjoyed the little bit of time she had him all to herself! :)

Afterwards, we hung out in the shade on our blanket. The kiddos were tired and just wanted to lie around and talk for a bit. Works for me since we do not have air conditioning and it was somewhere in the 90's by the time the A Thon was over.

Summer Highlights ~ Part 6

After vacation the kids had a week off and then they attended VBS at another church. They attend this VBS every year and have friends there they look forward to seeing. This year's theme was No Fear Factor.

Unfortunately I didn't get as many pictures of VBS as I usally do. This one is from parent's night on the final day of VBS. In the background is the waterslide they build each year for the kids to enjoy. You can tell they have a lot of fun with it and really look forward to playing on it.

The week after VBS was kids camp, which Yohn and I help run. This is another annual event our children really look forward to.

This year they helped lead in worship and have since joined the children's worship team at our church.

Lots of water play is scheduled in our days at camp.

And also some very interesting games!

While our children enjoy time with their friends they often take a few minutes to spend time with Yohn or I as well. Here's one of our down time moments, right after dinner one evening. They both needed a little attention after an exhausting day.

This beautiful waterfall is available to view only if you sign up to go on the 3 mile hike up the mountain. Lucky me I was chosen to chaperone the kids who wanted to go. I don't mind hiking and I love the falls. But since the temps were in the 100's and once there we only get to spend about 45 minutes, it kinda makes it an event I don't always look forward to.

Since there is no shower for the kids at our camp ground we always stop at this pool to, uh, well, clean them up a bit before returning them to their parents. :)

Then a milkshake before finally returning home. Believe it or not kids who have gone in previous years really look forward to these homemade, not a McDonald's or Dairy Queen shake.

See those circles under his eye though? Yeah, most of the kids look like that at the end, and so do us counselors. We really wear them out good and they love every minute of it.

My Week in Review ~ Project 365

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

Sunday, July 31st

I warned him to stay on the path, but he just had to take his bike "off road". Now both of his tires are filled with these and we have to replace the tubes.

Monday, August 5th

1st day of kid's camp. We stop off on the way up for a dip in this free pool. The kids have a blast here.

Tuesday, August 2nd

We were visited by a mama deer and her baby at the park we visited today. They wanted us to feed them, but we gave them a firm no and were just content to watch them run around.

Wednesday, August 3rd

The hike to the falls we beautiful! It's the first time I've done the hike in the five years we have been going to this particular spot for camp. It was Bethany's first year at camp and Elisha's second, but he didn't hike last year, so all three of us experienced the beauty of it for the first time together. My crazy husband and daughter took a dip in that ice cold water! My son just got his feet wet. Me, I just took pictures. :)

Thursday, August 4th

On our way home we stop at yet another pool, so 1) we break up the trip and the four hours in the car is not as long and 2) because there are no showers where we are and this way the kids come home smelling like chlorine instead of sweat. :)

Friday, August 5th

Home all day doing nothing but relaxing and catching up on blog reading.

Saturday, August 6th

Today was a mix of chores, wrapping up kid's camp information, preparing for Sunday morning, reading with my girl and playing video games with my boy.
