Vacation - Day 9

I'm back from Kids' Camp and we had a great time. I'll get to it in a later post though, because I really want to finish up my vacation posts first.

On day 9 we headed back to Baker to visit Yohn's aunt and uncle (remember they were out of town taking care of their grandchildren because their daughter is in the hospital). They had just gotten back and were a little surprised we were coming over but were happy to see us nevertheless.

Yohn's uncle had to go to work before we left so we only got a picture with his aunt.

We headed back over to Yohn's dad's since we didn't get much time with him the week before. Because his house is so small we took the kids to the park. They were extremely full of energy this day so it was a good thing to have them at the park. Some of this playground equipment has been at this park since Yohn's dad was a little boy. Both Yohn and his dad have played on the teeter totters, merry go round, swings and slide when they were boys. The kids gravited to the teeter totter and merry go round a lot. I think because most new playgrounds don't have these things it was a treat to play on something different.

Grandpa Gerald tickles the kids as they pass by him.

Elisha is not overly fond of spinning quickly so when bigger kids joined them on the merry go round he got right off and found something else to do. Bethany on the other hand stayed on and squealed with delight and they spun her faster and faster.

Yohn and his dad spent a lot of time talking and catching up.

All too soon it was time to go.

When you live in an area for a long time signs like this really don't interest you much, but then when you move away you begin to recognize how really cool it could be. I thought you might like to see it anyway. The kids were very excited to be halfway to the North Pole. If only they knew how far away it really was!

Here I go again with the clouds! I took this picture out of the car window.

I was going to end the post there but I couldn't resist telling you about Elisha feeding the chickens. My dad gave him a cup full of grain and told him to go out and feed the chickens so they'd go inside. Instead of going inside the chicken pen where he was supposed to feed them he chased them throwing the grain right at them. He wasn't being malicious, he just didn't understand. Grandpa Henry thought it was so funny that he didn't bother to correct him but instead came in the house to get the rest of us to come and watch him.

Yohn and Loo Loo Bell finally become friends, as long as the fence separates them, that is!

Gotta Run!

Well we are leaving today for kids camp. Please pray for safety and that the kids will be open to God's leading. Amazing things can happen at kids camp when God is there.

I had wanted to finish posting our vacation pictures, but I had way too many and time got away from me. So I'll get to torture you with them post the rest of them when I get back and hopefully also have some good news from camp.

Bye now!

Vacation - Day 8 - Meet Perry

Introducing the Bethany and Perry show! Enjoy!

Vacation - Day 8 (Part 3)

Here's Bethany at it again with the fish. She absolutely loved reeling in the fish, touching them and catching them in the shallow water when they were too small and had to be thrown back in.
More clouds and mountains. I told you I became somewhat fixated on them.

Yohn played "monster" with the kids in the water.

One of Bethany's favorite things is to ride on Daddy in the water. Our spirited little girl also likes to be a "monster" so what better way to play than to join forces with Daddy. Look out! Now it's a double headed monster!
Someone who had previously been at this particular spot on the river was nice enough to tie a stick to the tree to be used as a swing. Unless you had really good upper body strength (or are shorter like Bethany) it didn't work too well but the kids and Yohn still enjoyed themselves on it.
My Aunt Suzie and her boyfriend Jack came and joined us down at the river. I haven't seen her in at least ten years and had never met Jack either. See them there in the boat?

My dad lost his bail and was searching for it while I laughed at him and took pictures. Okay, that sounds mean and I didn't exactly mean it like it sounded. I was laughing because he looked silly the way he was searching with his net for the lost bail not because he lost it to begin with.

Aren't I just adorable sitting there in Yohn's sweaty Browns hat?
This is Henry, my cousin Melody's son. My Aunt Suzie is raising him so I haven't seen him since he was very small. He played well with our children, even though I think he was a little bit bored.
I have tried and tried to learn how to do the blurred background thing with the pictures and have not been able to perfect it. However, I have found that if your subject is far enough away (and you really zoom in on him) and the background is very far away from him then a perfect blurry background can be achieved.
There's all of us. I think my camera was overheating because it started to act up a little and got kind of hot (well, duh state the obvious, huh?). I took this picture using the timer but only got one instead of the two shots I set it for. So there we are all scrunched up and Elisha and my mom have their eyes closed.

Since the morning ride was a little rough the kids were kind of nervous during the ride back to the dock. The water was really calm by that time but you can still see that Bethany is clinging to the side of the boat. And that's the very last picture of day 8, I went picture crazy and loved every minute of it. Stay tuned... more of Bethany and Perry coming up!

Vacation - Day 8 (Part 2)

Because my little girl has a love for all things slimy (worms, snails, slugs, fish, etc.) she was right in the mix every time a fish was being reeled in.

Just kickin' back.

My dad reeled in a fish and then threw it back because Bethany was upset she missed out on helping him reel it in. As you can see she was right there next to him just waiting, she just didn't realize he was actually reeling in a fish. He let her do it herself, but she was having a little trouble so Elisha told her help her, because, he said, she needed someone with muscles to hold it for her. He did not, however, have any interest whatsoever in touching it once it has been brought to the shore.

Can we have fish for lunch? Nope sorry, this one's too small!

This is me creating my masterpiece for the intro for our vacation this year for our scrapbook. Ya know, if I really ever get around to doing it!

See that's kind of cool, right?

I finally let the kids play in the water, even though I thought it might still be a bit too cool out to go in. They completely disagree and kept telling me how much fun they were having. Indeed, they were having a blast.

Elisha asked my dad how he started the fire (you'll see it in a second) and he jokingly said by rubbing together two sticks. Not more than five minutes later there was Elisha rubbing together two sticks.

Elisha learns how to roast a hot dog for his lunch.

This is Perry. Bethany tortured this poor grasshopper for 4 1/2 hours. You'll see more on him in the next post (or maybe the one after)

And I'm not sure what you'll think of this picture, but when I saw this I thought it was downright hilarious!
