Super Gift From Heaven

Last week, we were very busy. Okay not me and Yohn so much as the kids. They chose to be in the Christmas play at the church this year and have been practicing since August. Last week was the performance, on three different nights (Thursday 12/10, Friday 12/11 and Sunday 12/13). Plus they had practice on both Tuesday and Wednesday as well, so yes, they were the busy ones and we merely watched and took pictures.

Elisha was a shepherd. They thought it an appropriate role for him since Yohn was a shepherd in a Christmas play like, 8 or 9 years ago. Harmony was Mary and she got to sing and had four or five lines (they all sang but her and one of the kings sang a special song).
That's Elisha saying one of his two lines. At the end of opening night he said that being in a play was so much fun and he wanted to do it again the next time they did a children's play at the church. This from the boy who complained about going to practice almost every single week.

Bethany and Jewell were both Baby dolls. I always seemed to sit where I couldn't really see them though, so I didn't get too many pictures of Bethany and none of Jewell on stage. This is Bethany saying one of her lines. In the beginning Baby dolls didn't have lines except for "Mama! Mama" here and there, but somehow she earned herself a line or two. After opening night she stated she didn't want to ever do another play and this was the child who liked to go to practice.

The opening night was the best night for all of the kids. No mistakes except for in the sound and lighting crew and they were all soooo very animated. Friday night, some kids seemed nervous. Bethany wouldn't keep her hands off of her feet and managed to take apart her bonnet. I was told she was also picking her nose (isn't that nice?). Jewell was licking her knee. Elisha was off in space a few times with his mouth hanging open and just looking around while everyone else was singing.

Sunday night was better as we talked to them both about what we, and other people, saw them doing on stage, but still the kids looked tired. They did well though. They paid attention and did their best. Bethany only made her funny angry face everytime she sang, but that's okay because at least she wasn't picking her nose or disassembling her bonnet. And Elisha, he only pretended to play the recorder on his shepherds staff a few times and missed hitting the other shepherd in the head when he started swirling his staff around. Yes, by Sunday they were glad to be done. And we, well, we couldn't be more proud of their accomplishments and their mishaps as well. It's what makes those nights the most memorable.

Sounds like the kids had a great time. Josiah had a Christmas program for AWANA on Wednesday, but ended up coming down from the stage in the middle of the performance because he wasn't feeling well. Good thing we left when we did because he didn't make it to the car before he was throwing up. Poor kid. He and Hailey are in a Christmas Program tonight for our church. Should be cute! Love watching kids perform!

Awww, I love it! And how confusing are kids?? One liked rehearsal and doesn't want to do it again, the other didn't like rehearsal and does want to do it again?!?! Darn kids can't make up their minds!!

Thank you for your prayers for John. I really appreciate it. And for the record, "sucks" is a totally acceptable word.
