Whew! Vacations fly by much too fast for my liking and this year's was no exception. How come you can't just slow down time for yourself when you are enjoying time away from it all?
On another note, did you have the heat wave that hit a few weeks ago? As we were travelling this was the temperature outside:
Notice the time? That's pm people! Crazy! We were travelling to our overnight destination in Nevada and it was still 101 when we arrived.
Some beautiful mountains from our car window.
Two awesome kids who didn't even fight on this leg of the trip. It helps that I bought them a surprise DVD series they hadn't seen yet.
Miles and miles of road to go. Notice the nice straight line? It was like this for 26 minutes with no curves! Again, Crazy!
Even with the heat we decided on a few extra stops we normally pass by. This was supposed to be an awesome view, but I've seen better. Still it was much prettier than this picture shows. And it was sooo hot! Strike one!
I also got this sweet pic of Bethany and her daddy!
We also tried to stop at the old Fort Boise Replica but found out it was only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It was Monday. We looked at the statues outside instead. And used the bathroom. Strike two!
This guy was nicknamed Big Foot and apparently was made using his real dimensions. His feet were double the size of Elisha's are long and probably three times as wide. He used to terrorize the settlers and it took an ambush and eighteen bullets to finally bring him down.
A little playground time. Note that I said "little" cuz' at this point it was like 105 outside. We only spend about 10 minutes here and half of that was waiting for Bethany to get out of the bathroom.
Stopped by a small town I used to live in as a kid for out customary lunch but found out they were closed on Sundays and Mondays now. And as I said it was Monday... strike three!
So instead we took a mini tour of the town and I showed the kids where I used to sled in the winter. Yep, I said sled. Cuz' this year we took them sledding and the hills were all small. I wanted them to see what I was talking about when I said they were baby hills. It's also where I broke my arm at 13.
We stopped for a brief play time at the park area I used to love and realized not too much had changed. Same teeter totters, same slide, same small hill in the background....
I told Yohn and the kids that my cousins and I used to roll down this hill as kids and Yohn got this crazy idea it would be fun to do it too!
And once Daddy did it the kids did too!
Yep, that's me! I was soooo stinkin' dizzy afterwards. Never again! I don't know how that used to be fun. Okay, I'll admit for a moment it was fun, until I stopped at the bottom and world did not!
And if they didn't get dizzy enough going down the hill they had to make up for that on the Merry Go Round! Did I mention it was like 105 degrees outside?
That was the beginning of our adventures that we have been looking back on and talking about often today. Now we are home again and somewhat happy to be here... I love being in my own bed! However, I do not look forward to work on Monday!

Your luck sounds somewhat like ours--with the 3 strikes :(
I can't imagine that heat, but the kids looked like they were having fun!
I love the rolling down the hill pics!
