A's vs. Cardinals
Do you like his face of concentration?
Some time at second base. This game was rough. The A's lost 0-22. Ouch! On top of that, since it was pre-season they were doing an umpire clinic and training a lot of young "aspiring" umpires. Being the scorekeeper I got to keem them on track. So on top of our team losing I also had to make sure they were giving everyone the right information. So not fun. The whole team seemed to struggle to hit, with only a few actually succeeding and with very few walks we just had a very hard game. Thankfully, this was not a preview to how the season would start out. Hopefully next time we meet the Cardinals during the season, the game will go very differently.
Cubs vs. Orioles
Bethany's started just before Elisha's ended so I got to see most of her game too. This is my girl at bat. She is watching a bad pitch pass her by.
I can't remember if she got a hit this time at bat or not, but she did hit off of her coach twice during this game, resulting in a run home and then a run to second before the third out came.
Getting a chance to play at second base.
Can you tell we hadn't had our annual field prep day yet? You can see a lot of weeds hanging around the field in these pictures.
Speaking of hanging around... here is Elisha entertaining himself during Bethany's game.
And the Cubs win! Unfortunately I can't remember the final score...

A's vs. Red Sox
Both of my kids played at the exact same time and since Yohn was scorekeeper for Bethany's game I ran back and forth between the two fields. Whew! I am so thankful they play at the same complex. Elisha's struggles with batting continue. He did get walked this game, but wasn't able to come home. This game was better than the last one. Our two missing players from the previous game were there and it made a difference. Sadly they still lost 5-7.
Cubs vs. Blue Jays
Cutie girl smiling from the dugout.
I know this is a very unflattering picture of a ump who happened to be watching the game, but do you see that little red sleeve to the right and the glove laying on the ground. Yep, Bethany's. Apparently her shoe fell off, although I am sure it had help, she says it was because it came untied. This nice ump decided to give her a hand because she was taking so long to tie it.
See the red tape around her shoes? Yep, her coaches did not want untied shoes to accidentally happen again. Seven out of ten players had red-taped shoes because we had a lot of untied shoe incidents.
She got a brand new purple bat and this was her first game getting to use it. I don't remember the score, but I do know that they won again!
The following Saturday was supposed to be Opening Day complete with a parade, carnival and team pictures but then the rains decided to show and stick around for two weeks so we had virtually not baseball/softball during that time. Opening Day was re-scheduled for April 10th, which Yohn and I will be out of town for so we have friends who will get them there for their pictures but, sadly, they will miss out on all the other stuff.

Great photos and recaps of the games. I love that purple bat :)
Looks like the season is off to a great start!
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
What a great idea with taping their shoes. I just might have to try that for soccer!
They look adorable in their uniforms!
