Who Ordered the Heat? and Other Stuff

Seriously, who ordered this heat? It's been the high nineties to hundreds all last week and most of this week. We did have a break over the weekend but now the heat is back. We would have loved those temps during the summer when we could go swimming and cool off instead of having to sit in classrooms and hot offices to do our work. It's nearly October. Aren't the leaves supposed to be falling off of the trees or something?

My dear daughter had four teeth pulled on Monday. Four! Can you see the holes in her smile? (And yes, she is torturing poor Lynx on a regular basis, see his expression? We see that a lot.) One tooth was a badly rotten permanent tooth that could not be saved and was causing her major pain. The other three had to come out because they were hindering the permanent teeth under them from coming in properly. After all the healing then, it's off to the ortho to get a retainer to aide her teeth in going where they are supposed to be.

Can you say $$$$. Yep, we'll be pinching pennies for a while. I don't think it'll be that bad, but we'll need to be careful.

While Bethany was home yesterday, due to stitches in her mouth and a need to keep an ice pack on her face, she did her school work. Somehow she thought the above statement asked for the name of her lunch. Uh, Bethany Honey, we do not go to church at Ramen Noodles (yes, I know she spelled it terribly wrong).

Speaking of school work, why does fourth grade bring with it soooo much homework? Ugh! I hate homework. Yes, hate is a strong word, and I am strongly opposed to homework.

Okay, so that's not entirely true, but I am not liking this workload we're attempting to balance out. Not fun!

BUT, he is enjoying fourth grade, homework and all, so I guess I really don't have so much to complain about.

Yes, my child is slightly crazy.... or easily amused with herself. You choose.
Note: These pictures are before the big teeth removing appointment.

And I know you want to know more about Lynx. Lynx has gotten HUGE!

Okay, not really but he is about three times the size of when we found him on August 7th. And he likes to sleep in the oddest of places...

...with his mouth hanging wide open. I have never seen a cat do this, but he does it all. the. time. Either that or he just lays around....

...looking adorable!

Oh and I told the first graders in reading group today to write down their homework pages 76 - 85. When I checked to make sure they had written it correctly I noticed one of them had written 7B6 instead of 76. :) Can you tell she still doesn't pronounce her words quite right yet? It was so cute!

That's it for us. Hope your days are filled with happiness, love, but most of all God's presence.

Over and out!

Yes, teeth can be so expensive. Lord, knows i have dropped a ton on mine...teeth pulled, fillings, root canals, braces, retainer, list is never ending. Hope she is back to normal...looks like she is doing well in those later pictures.
YOur kitty is so cute. Love that sleeping picture.

It's great to see a post again! I've missed you.

Poor Bethany, losing so many teeth at once. I hope she's feeling better by now.

Lynx is simply adorable. I don't know what it is about gray tabby cats, but they seem to have interesting personalities. Lynx appears to be no exception.

I remember the days of homework with our children! It seemed overwhelming some days. I usually let Ed handle that, since I'd been in the classroom all day. More schoolwork wasn't what I wanted to see at the end of the day! (the kids probably feel the same way)

Glad to hear that summer didn't totally pass you by--even if it waited until September to come!

Take care. See you next time :)

I don't think I had a single baby tooth that didn't hinder a permanant tooth. Yes, I wore braces. Sigh.

I want to go to the Church of Ramen Noodles! I'll bet there's no falling asleep during the service there!

Poor Bethany! That's quite an ordeal for someone so young. I'm glad it's behind her now.

My son had a terrible time with grade four. When I asked some of my friends who have older children what their experiences were, they all said the fourth grade was tough because it's a transition year.

Your kitty cat is adorable!
