Just Pictures

Well, in reality there will be some words too. :)

Yohn and I in San Francisco, for our anniversary get away.

We visited the Mirror Maze and had a blast. It was crazy and you had to be careful not to bump into the mirrors.

We also took the opportunity to eat at Bubba Gump's. It was okay, but I think the scenery there was better than the food. It was fun looking at the memorabilia and seeing all the waiters and waitresses in various forms of Forrest Gump shirts. See the sign above? If all is well at your table then you leave the sign on Run Forrest Run. But if you need something, like a refill, etc. Then switch the sign to Stop Forrest Stop and they come right to your table.

We went hiking on Good Friday and spent the entire day outdoors. This cave was a ways up and Elisha had to climb to get to it.

The kids love the caves where we go. They also love the lizards and the creek.

Easter pictures!

Our family pictures were hard to take due to the weird timer on the new camera. We didn't really get that great of a picture of all four of us.

The kids were excited for the first Kids Fly Free of the year. Hopefully we'll be able to catch a few more this year.

Mother's Day at the Elephant Bar. Bethany was excited that we got to sit at the table under the big elephant.

We had some fun with the basketball hoop and a ladder.

Counting Down to Fifteen - #1

Today is the day!

Happy 15th Anniversary Yohn!

Yohn,

You'd think with this idea brewing in my head since December I would have had this all planned out, but since I procrastinated it until the last minute, I didn't get any pictures from pre-digital camera years. The pics are all in mixed order and most of them are pictures I took with my arm all outstretched. Obviously when I do this I have a bad habit of tipping my head back. Ah well, they are still good pics. And hopefully you will forgive me for the few that appear to be peeking up your nose a bit. :)

I love you! I love you! I love you! I can't say this enough! Can't wait to spend some time just you and I the next few days!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #2

:) Only one more day...

Geoff Moore - If You Could See What I See

Yohn,

I had to do one more Geoff Moore song for you! I almost missed this one! I'm glad it popped up on the side the other day when I was browsing youtube or I would have been kicking myself later.

This song is us! I love it, but not as much as I love you. Thank you for holding my heart so tenderly. I hope that I treat you like the treasure you are (at least most of the time *wink*).

I pray for you daily, My Love. And I pray also that we will have more than the world has and that our marriage will be an example to others. A lofty goal I know, but with Jesus by our side, well, anything can happen.

All my love,

Ruth

Counting Down to Fifteen - #3

Almost forgot - again! Yikes! Good thing I'm almost done.

Matthew West - When I Say I Do

Yohn,

I know you said you were surprised that I found so many Christian Songs about family and marriage, but truthfully I only chose the ones I thought you would like. There are many, many more and I'd be happy to show them to you if you want.

I love you! I love this song! If it was out when we got married it may have bumped The Vow. "As the years march on, like a beating heart, I will live these words, till death do us part..."

I meant what I said when I said "I Do". We've had some rough points, but I've never thought of giving up. You're it Babe, and you're stuck with me!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #4

Thursday is getting closer...

Yohn,

This song had to grow on me. I did my absolute best to pick songs I thought you would like too, and that meant throwing out (figuratively, obviosly) some songs that just weren't "our style". But as I continued my search this one kept popping up and I played it more than once before I would remember that I already heard it. Anyway, it grew on my and I found it fitting. I do need you now and forever! And yes, sometimes I watch you while you sleep and thank God you are there by my side.

Love you Babe!

Ruth

PS,

Did you see the pen at the top? Too bad we couldn't snag that for Susan! HA! HA!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #5

Not too much longer...

Yohn,

I wish I could have found this one with lyrics, or pictures maybe. But I still like this song. I remember loving FFH and haven't heard anything from them in a while, so when I heard this song, I really liked it!

I do thank God for each day we have, the good and the bad, cuz' sometimes some days are definitely better than others. Looking forward to spending some time just you and I in a few days!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #6

Less than a week now...

Darlene Zschech - "Everything About You"

Yohn,

I love everything about you (well, almost if I am honest, there are a few things that bug me!) and I'm glad I do know that I am the only one for you!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #7

I almost forgot to post this today! I had been pre-posting the others, but somehow this one slipped by. I'd better do tomorrow's too so I don't forget. :)

Yohn,

I know that this song ends talking about Jesus, but it is so awesome anyway! I'm thankful for your love!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #8

Just over a week left in the countdown...

John Waller - "As For Me and My House"

Yohn,

Remember I asked you a month ago what you thought of this song? Now you know why! While it's not a love song, it's still a prayer that I have that you, me and our children will serve the Lord all the days of our lives. I love you Babe!

Nine days to go!

Yohn,

I know this song covers the whole life of one couple, and well, we're not there yet, but the song reminds me of that first dance together at the youth center. Remember how nervous we both were and how everyone was waiting for us to dance! And how they all cheered when we did. I can't even remember what song we danced to that first time, can you? Later that night you made the biggest decision of your life (up to that moment)... you asked me out! No regrets, Babe. No regrets.

All my love,

Ruth

Counting Down to Fifteen - #10

Ten days left...

I just wanted to add that I am sharing this publicly because I believe marriage, no matter how long you have been married, should be celebrated. So many people give up. Yohn and I will have fifteen years married in ten more days and I can't wait to celebrate with him. I have had this idea in my head to do this countdown since December. I'm so glad to have the opportunity to share it!

Yohn,

I fell in love with this song after Fireproof was in theatres, and if you remember I listened to it all. the. time. and probably drove you crazy doing it. But it is so true and applies to our lives. I am so glad that love is a shelter, that love is peace, and that it is not meant to be a fight, but something worth fighting for. I will always fight for you.

Counting Down to Fifteen - #11

Eleven days to go...

Dear Yohn,

I love this song. I don't know if you have heard it before or not. It is perfect for a wedding day and all the vows that should be prayed before someone gets married. However, it perfectly depicts what our prayers continually should be after we get married too! I pray that I am the wife that you need.

All my love,

Ruth

Counting Down to Fifteen - #12

Twelve more days to go...

Steven Curtis Chapman - "I Will Be Here"

Dear Yohn,

An older song, but one that beautifully conveys what marriage should be. Thank you for always being here for me. You are a blessing in my life. Thank you for being the one I can talk to about anything, for being the shoulder to cry on, for being the biggest encourager, for being the one to keep me grounded when I am upset, for giving me a different perspective on things. I love you!

"I will be true to the promise I have made, to you and to the One who gave you to me..."

Thirteen more days until we celebrate #15

Yohn,

I fell in love with this song when I used it for Gene and Susan's 25th wedding anniversary slide show. Remember that! It's hard to believe that was almost six years ago! While I thought I'd do a slide show for us one day using it one day, that hasn't happened (so far anyway), but that didn't stop me from using it here. You are the love of my life!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #14

Fourteen days until we celebrate #15!

Matthew West - "Wouldn't Change a Thing"

My Love,

I wouldn't change a thing about us. I was just thinking this morning how I don't know who I would be now if it wasn't for you. I believe God brought you into my life at just the right moment, and if He hadn't, well I just don't know where I'd be now and that's sort of a scary thought. I'm so thankful for you!

Counting Down to Fifteen - #15

In fifteen days, Yohn and I will be married for 15 years. So in celebration of that day, I decided to do a little dedication. Here's number 15 in my fifteen day countdown:

Geoff Moore and the Distance "The Vow"

We played this song on our wedding day. Love you Yohn! Hope this song brings back fond memories!

Carmel ~ Part 2

On Sunday we spent part of the day in Monterey, about 15 minutes away. We visited the much talked about Monterey Bay Aquarium. Yohn and I both thought this would have been more fun to see with the kids, but we enjoyed ourselves nevertheless. We saw....

... a diver in the tank feeding the apparently friendly sharks who only eat certain kinds of food.

...a fish about as big as our son!

...bat rays being fed.

...birds who had been rescued off of the coast.

... a seal who wouldn't keep his sleepy head up long enough for me to get a good picture of him.

... several tankfuls of colorful fish. And also penguins, turtles, otters, seahorses and eels.

We walked around the shops and had lunch at a little restaurant I would never visit again. Seriously even the water was yucky. Unfortunately, a headache crept up on me and we spent much of the afternoon napping and watching movies. We had dinner in our room and enjoyed a restful evening together.

The next morning we took the time to walk the shores of Carmel one more time, collecting "treasures" for our children before we came home. All in all, we had a great trip just spending time together and getting some much needed rest!

Carmel ~ Part 1

On April 4th, Yohn and I celebrated 13 years of being married. The following weekend we headed out on a kid free mini vacation to be together, just the two of us...

We saw this our first evening there. Beautiful. The ocean is one of Yohn's favorite places. Not mine as much, but I still enjoyed myself a lot.

I do like this profile pic of my hubby!

The next day we drove for a bit and then walked the beach. I climbed the rocks. Maybe I should have used the other picture that shows how far up I climbed. :)

I took lots and lots of pictures of the water. You just never know which pictures will be just what you wanted until you get them on the computer.

We took pictures of each other.

I took pictures of the flowers...

...and the path we walked on.

Love you Babe!

I spotted this guy attempting to sun himself on the trail, although there really wasn't much sun. It was kinda chilly and overcast.

Then I caught this little guy and borrowed him for some pictures before putting him back where he belonged.

We also spotted this caterpillar.

The view from above.

Later that day we went on the 17 mile drive. The first part of it was very tree lined.

But the second half took us down by the beach again.

We stopped at Bird Rock where it was said you could see seals. We couldn't see them due to the setting sun behind the rock but we sure could hear them. However, if you look carefully you can see that the camera could still see them. Apparently they were all over that rock. Can you see the little one in the water on the right side. That's all we could see of the seals.

We also saw a few deer on our scenic drive.

That's the lone cypress. Such beautiful scenery.

Smile!

More to come...
