NapTime MomTog Project 365

Hi all! I missed you last week because Yohn and I were out of town celebrating our 13th anniversary. So here I am back this week with two week's worth of pictures.

Sunday ~ April 3rd

Due to a rain out the Saturday before all games were re-scheduled to Sunday. Since Yohn and I have too much commitment on Sunday to be able to get Elisha to his game his coach picked him up. Of course he got a great hit to the outfield and an out on a steal while playing third resulting in a game ball. Cuz' you know kids always seem to do their utmost best a sports when moms and dads aren't there.

Monday ~ April 4th

Happy 13th Anniversary to Yohn and Me! I got a dozen white roses. He chose white he says my white jacket and sunglasses look good on me and thought he'd keep the "theme" going.

Tuesday ~ April 5th

One of the preschool parents has started a new Zumba fitness class once a week that the kids absolutely love.

Wednesday ~ April 6th

The older kids were trying to make a human pyramid. They almost succeeded, but as the last one was climbing to the top, Joseph went tumbling down!

Thursday ~ April 7th

You may have to click on this picture to enlarge it, but Bethany's game was hailed out. Yep, I said hail. We knew a storm was coming but I don't think any of us expected the sudden wind, dropped temperatures and hail that came upon us. I was in the score-keepers box but unfortunately I wasn't really safe because the wind was blowing right at me. (More of this game and all the others on this 365 to come in a future Baseball/Softball Chronicles post).

Friday ~ April 8th

Our first night away in Carmel. (More of this weekend to come in a future post)

Saturday ~ April 9th

Today we did a lot of beach and trail walking and then later enjoyed scenic 17 Mile Drive.

Sunday ~ April 10th

We visited the Monterey Aquarium today. There was a lot of beauty to behold, but can I just say I think the price was a bit steep.

Monday ~ April 11th

You'd think being away from my kids for the whole weekend I'd have had a picture of them or something but no, instead I have a picture of the first poppy of the Spring in bloom.

Tuesday ~ April 12th

Look who's Hero of the Game!

Wednesday ~ April 13th

They posted Bethany's hero of the game night on the Cubs website!

Thursday ~ April 14th

I split score-keeping responsibilities with another mom since we both had two kids playing at the same time and didn't want to miss out.

Friday ~ April 15th

And she scores!

Saturday ~ April 16th

We went on a two family outing and rented paddle boats! (More to come on this too, but this post may have to wait for next week)

Thanks Sara and Sarah for hosting this project and allowing us to link up and share in the fun with others!

Baseball/Softball Chronicles ~ March 28th - April 2nd

Well, due to the extreme amount of rain we received this fine beginning of baseball/softball season, Opening Day which was scheduled for March 19th was rained out. They re-scheduled it to April 10th, and guess what? We were out of town, so no Opening Day pictures from me this year.

Then after the rainfest all week long the following week... Saturday, March 26th's games were canceled. Then Monday brought the sun, but unfortunately because the fields were so saturated the games on Monday and Tuesday, including Bethany's on March 29th, were canceled. So on Thursday, March 31st Elisha's first official 2011 season game was underway...

March 31st, 2011

A's vs. Indians

See how tall the grass was? It had lots of water the past few weeks.

Elisha got hit by a pitch in the elbow. This is him leading off of 1st base. I don't know if you can see it or not, but he is sticking out his tongue. It cracks me up when he focuses like that!

He made it to second but no further on this round (due to the 3rd out coming before he really got a chance).

This is Anthony, one of Elisha's best friends. They were playing each other this night.

Elisha on first base the second time at bat. Thankfully he got a base on balls and only had to swing once. See him still holding his elbow?

Yeah, it's still bothering him on third base too.

But do you see that green blur running for home? Yep, That's Elisha! He got to cross the plate and was excited to put a point on the board for his team!

Final Score: A's 12 - Indians 4 (I think... I know for sure they won by 8 points)

Saturday, April 2nd

Cubs vs. Marlins

After having two rained out games, Bethany's season finally gets underway!

And it's pretty obvious her focus and concentration remain just as sharp as ever!

:)

I warned her that her hat needed to be a little tighter on her head but she didn't really take an interest in my advice. Nope, her hat had to fly off while she was running for a ball for her to learn that lesson.

Adjusting her helmet...

Swing batter!

Bethany got one hit of the coach this game, one strike out and then another hit.

Final Score: Hmmm... They won, that's all I know! :)

A's vs. Red Sox

This is all Elisha played on this fine sunny Saturday. His elbow was still giving him some troubles, so he played two innings in the outfield, cuz he really, really wanted to play, and then was pulled just before he batted.(Look they mowed the grass!)

The good news, nothing was broken so I didn't have to worry about him re-injuring anything, because it was just a bruise. The bad news, Elisha tries to please everyone and I had to let his coaches know to watch him cuz' he might not speak up. Sure enough, they pulled him because they caught him wincing while warming up to go to bat. Silly boy!

This game was a close one, and there were lots of disputed calls.

Final Score: A's 8 - Red Sox 7 (won in an extra inning on a call that upset the Red Sox coach very much. Some days are just like that I suppose)

Baseball/Softball Chronicles ~ Pre-Season

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

A's vs. Cardinals

Elisha's team played first. They were missing two of their best players and it showed.

Do you like his face of concentration?

Tossing the ball around while the pitcher warms up.

I had to scorekeep today, so this is the best shot I got of him batting.

Some time at second base. This game was rough. The A's lost 0-22. Ouch! On top of that, since it was pre-season they were doing an umpire clinic and training a lot of young "aspiring" umpires. Being the scorekeeper I got to keem them on track. So on top of our team losing I also had to make sure they were giving everyone the right information. So not fun. The whole team seemed to struggle to hit, with only a few actually succeeding and with very few walks we just had a very hard game. Thankfully, this was not a preview to how the season would start out. Hopefully next time we meet the Cardinals during the season, the game will go very differently.

Cubs vs. Orioles

Bethany's started just before Elisha's ended so I got to see most of her game too. This is my girl at bat. She is watching a bad pitch pass her by.

I can't remember if she got a hit this time at bat or not, but she did hit off of her coach twice during this game, resulting in a run home and then a run to second before the third out came.

Getting a chance to play at second base.

Can you tell we hadn't had our annual field prep day yet? You can see a lot of weeds hanging around the field in these pictures.

Speaking of hanging around... here is Elisha entertaining himself during Bethany's game.

And the Cubs win! Unfortunately I can't remember the final score...

A's vs. Red Sox

Both of my kids played at the exact same time and since Yohn was scorekeeper for Bethany's game I ran back and forth between the two fields. Whew! I am so thankful they play at the same complex. Elisha's struggles with batting continue. He did get walked this game, but wasn't able to come home. This game was better than the last one. Our two missing players from the previous game were there and it made a difference. Sadly they still lost 5-7.

Cubs vs. Blue Jays

Cutie girl smiling from the dugout.

I know this is a very unflattering picture of a ump who happened to be watching the game, but do you see that little red sleeve to the right and the glove laying on the ground. Yep, Bethany's. Apparently her shoe fell off, although I am sure it had help, she says it was because it came untied. This nice ump decided to give her a hand because she was taking so long to tie it.

See the red tape around her shoes? Yep, her coaches did not want untied shoes to accidentally happen again. Seven out of ten players had red-taped shoes because we had a lot of untied shoe incidents.

She got a brand new purple bat and this was her first game getting to use it. I don't remember the score, but I do know that they won again!

The following Saturday was supposed to be Opening Day complete with a parade, carnival and team pictures but then the rains decided to show and stick around for two weeks so we had virtually not baseball/softball during that time. Opening Day was re-scheduled for April 10th, which Yohn and I will be out of town for so we have friends who will get them there for their pictures but, sadly, they will miss out on all the other stuff.

Sunday ~ March 27th

I spotted this guy in the middle of the church parking lot and I saved him from getting run over by a car... right after I took a picture of him.

Monday ~ March 28th

Elisha sneaking some pretzels and Nutella before the ladies from life group show up. This week, unintentionally, has a lot of pictures of him.

Tuesday ~ March 29th

What's that? My shadow! We have sunshine here again! While I was excited about getting to see the sun again this week it certainly got warm fast. We went from mid 50's for the last few weeks with lots of rain to mid 80's with full on sun. It was quite the adjustment to say the least.

However, just because we had so much sunshine does not mean the fields were playable. Bethany's team was unable to play their scheduled game tonight because everything was still pretty mucky.

Wednesday ~ March 30th

Elisha had baseball practice and then we had a leadership meeting at church afterwards. Needless to say we were up finishing his reading homework a little bit past bed time.

Thursday ~ March 31st

Elisha got hit the elbow while at bat tonight during the bottom of the third or fourth inning. He did finish the game but he kept holding his elbow. This is him a few innings later standing on 1st base after getting a walk. This walk did result in a run home so while he was in pain that night he was super excited that he scored a run.

Friday ~ April 1st

Boy it looks like we might be pulling a prank in the picture because you can't see the bruise or the swelling, but Elisha's arm was puffy, warm and purple on Friday morning. He was in a lot of pain and had to have help getting dressed. We took him to the ER to get an x-ray just to be safe. Good news, he's A-OK. Bad news, we went for absolutely no reason. Especially since he was acting like it was no big deal while getting the x-rays. Um yeah, thanks son.

Saturday ~ April 2nd

Since Elisha had so many pictures all week I thought I'd share a few of my Bethany. Here she is looking cute in the dug out.

And here she is hitting a foul ball. Sadly this is all I saw of her game because I had to score keep Elisha's game. Another mom let me duck out of the score keeper box for a few minutes so I could come and get these pictures. Her team won again making them undefeated so far. Course since this was the first official season game because of all the rain, I am counting the two pre-season games in that undefeated status.

That's it for this week. I hope yours was active, fun, and sunshine filled (without the heat though)!
